The Research & Development (R&D) activities of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) are committed to fostering a strong culture of innovation, , and technological excellence among faculty members and students. The department focuses on research areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Cybersecurity and business analytics , aligning its initiatives with emerging global trends and national priorities in digital transformation and intelligent systems. Faculty members actively contribute through high-quality publications in reputed journals and conferences, funded research projects, consultancy assignments, patent filings, and collaborations with premier academic institutions and industries. Interdisciplinary research integrating AI & ML with domains like healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, and Industry 4.0 is encouraged to address real-world challenges and societal needs. Students are integral to the research ecosystem and are motivated to participate in hackathons, innovation challenges, coding competitions, conferences, and R&D-oriented internships, fostering research-driven learning and practical problem-solving skills. The department’s research activities are further strengthened by JNTUH-recognized Research Supervisor Dr. M. A. Jabbar, Professor and Head of the Department, CSE (AI & ML), who actively guides research scholars and promotes a strong culture of innovation, quality publications, and collaborative research. In addition, Dr. R. Karthikeyan, Professor in the department, serves as a recognized Research Supervisor at Annamalai University, contributing significantly to research supervision and academic development. Together, their leadership and mentorship foster a vibrant research environment that encourages scholarly contributions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technological advancement.

Research Publications

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) is supported by a strong team of highly qualified and research-oriented faculty members committed to academic excellence and innovation. The department has a total of 28 faculty members, of which 5 hold doctoral degrees (Ph.D.), contributing significantly to research, publications, and advanced knowledge dissemination. The doctorate-qualified faculty maintain an impressive average H-index of 12, reflecting consistent research productivity, scholarly impact, and citation strength in reputed journals and conferences. The highest H-index among the faculty is 32, demonstrating outstanding achievement in high-impact research and global academic visibility. Notably, Dr. M. A. Jabbar has been recognized among the World’s Top 2% of Scientists by Stanford University for five consecutive years since 2021, highlighting his exceptional research contributions and the department’s strong research standing at both national and international levels.
